Too much red tape
SevenBloks, the puzzle game that isn't a match-3 game, will no longer be available in mainland China from january 1st 2021.
Due to new regulations by the Chinese government game developers now need to request a registration number for which numerous requirements must be met. For example, a CD-ROM containing at least 10 minutes of video that contains all sorts of information about the game must be delivered.
Martin van Spanje, creator of the game SevenBloks, doesn't have the time or resources to deliver such information to the Chinese Government and therefore has decided to remove the game from the App Store in China.
Chinese localization of the game will remain in tact, for users outside of Chine who wish to play the game in the Chinese language.
